ABB Australia has landed a $10m contract from United Group Resources to provide reliable power for Incitec’s new ammonium nitrate plant at Moranbah in Queensland.

The plant is estimated to produce 330,000t of ammonium nitrate each year for fertilisers and explosives used in the mining industry.

The Australian company will design switchboards for installation into transportable switchrooms.

The solutions are said to be safe and reliable, by using type tested arc ducting to direct hazardous products.

The equipment will be installed at the company’s Moorebank facility in Sydney, and later transported to the Moranbah plant for installation and commissioning in July 2009.
