AJ LUCAS has enhanced its position in the natural resources sector with the acquisition of a leading drilling and specialty services provider.
According to AJ Lucas, the contract with Mitchell Drilling will allow the company to capitalise on expected growth in demand for coal seam gas (CSG).
CSG occurs naturally within coal seams. Coal seam gas is a ‘greener form’ of energy that produces almost half the greenhouse gas of burning coal, and generally costs less to produce than wind or solar sources.
AJ Lucas says the agreement is a “highly strategic” move that will bring together two businesses able to scale and support the CSG industry.
Mitchell Drilling is a Queensland based company which has been operating in the drilling sector for almost 40 years. The company currently operates 31 rigs in Australia.
