Atlas Copco to reinforce Swedish mines

ATLAS Copco will supply LKAB Mining with rock reinforcement equipment at its Kiruna and Malmberget mines in Sweden.

According to the drilling manufacturer, LKAB will use the equipment to implement an action plan to boost safety in its mines.

The contract will see 10 Boltec LC rock-bolting rigs and a Boomer E2 C rig for bolt-hole drilling be delivered to the sites.

A Cabletec LC rig for cable bolting will also be delivered during the first half of 2009 as part of the order.
