Australian gas drilling gets underway

TAP OIL has commenced its exploration well in the Carnarvon Basin in Western Australia.

The Australian gas and exploration company’s ‘Dibbler-1 Operations’ got underway on 8 September 2008, approximately 215m from the John Brookes gas pipeline.

The operation is targeting a 50bcf volume in the Dupuy Formation, and is said to be a “high risk” gas exploration well.

The well is currently at 198m depth, and is programmed to reach a total depth of 3,595m within two weeks.
