CSIRO shares secrets on improving drilling performance

CSIRO Petroleum Resources has released a brochure detailing its research and development to improve drilling performance for the oil and gas industry.

The researchers say that as the search for oil and gas moves to more remote and challenging locations, increasingly sophisticated drilling processes are required.

The organisation claims to be applying theoretical and practical approaches to drilling challenges and delivering cost effective and time efficient technologies to improve drilling performance.

The brochure outlines the projects the CSIRO is engaged in including, cutter-rock interaction, self-excited vibrations of PDC bits, resonance hammer drilling and directional drilling.

Additionally, the text outlines CSIRO Petroleum Resource's drilling and geomechanics team, research collaborations, future research as well as facilities and equipment.
