Digging Deeper Conference hailed a success

THE 2008 Digging Deeper Conference has been hailed as a success among junior explorers and the scientific community, according to the Mines and Energy (DME) minister, Geoff Wilson.

The conference, held in Brisbane on 10 December 2008, brought together a range of industry professionals to discuss trends and showcase the latest mapping techniques and data.

Wilson says the Queensland Government is opening up the state for exploration and is planning for the future by encouraging more exploration in the state.

“We know that today’s exploration equals tomorrow’s jobs,” he said.

Wilson says the DME is working in partnership with major mining companies and unions to keep a close eye on the mining industry in light of the financial crisis.

"Mining is a key economic driver of the state’s strong economy and is one of the most important industries for Queensland’s long term future,” he said.
