DRILLING rigs are providing operators with more intelligence than ever to keep them working efficiency while maintaining pinpoint control.
As rock drilling and blasting tasks continue to receive enhancements in terms of productivity and precision, manufacturers are now offering a variety of attachments and equipment to deliver time savings and optimise quality control.
Atlas Copco has developed a rock drill that is tailored for difficult drilling tasks in small to medium-sized surface applications. The COP 1640 drill comes as the third member of the company’s surface drilling machines, joining the COP 1240 and COP 1840 models.
The machine is equipped for efficient drilling of holes in the 51 to 89mm range and features a large, robust driver and gearing to extend service wear and minimise operating costs.
Three stroke settings are available to ensure an optimum penetration rate in various types of rocks, and a dual-damping system is also said to provide reflex damping.
According to the manufacturer, the COP drill range features simplified spare parts management and an easy-to-service design that keeps service costs to a minimum.
