WARATAH Coal vice-president of exploration David Campbell has spoken to more than 100 people about the $45.7 billion worth of projects planned for Mackay, Queensland.

The guests, mostly from the mining and engineering sector, attended the forum to find out how their business could get involved in the upcoming developments.

Some of the major projects are a Liquefied Natural Gas Project worth $1.5 billion, the China First Project $1.97 billion and an Energy Co-generation plant $100 million.

The Regional Economic Development Corporation (REDC), that hosted the event, says the region is experiencing new growth after the mining downturn of the past 12 months and beginning to prepare for the future.
