Metgasco spuds NSW coal seam gas well

METGASCO has announced that it begun drilling on its coal seam gas (CSG) exploration well Riflebird-E15 on 14 June 2009.

The company expects the well to take approximately one week to complete and the rig is currently drilling ahead.

Riflebird-E15 is a vertical well designed to evaluate the production performance of the Walloon coal measures at this location.

Metgasco says that this well is planned to be the vertical offtake well for a future horizontal pilot production well to be drilled later in this calendar year. It will be drilled to a proposed total depth of 750 meters.

The operation follows the company’s recent success in the 25% owned Wyan-E1 coal seam gas in PEL 13, approximately 28km south west of the township of Casino. A continuous production test demonstrated gas flows of approximately 120,000 standard cubic feet per day (“scfd”) through a 24/64” choke.
