COMET Ridge has announced that it plans to commence drilling coal seam gas at the Galliee Basin, Queensland in the 2009 December quarter.

Managing Director Tor McCaul says the company now has 100% ownership of the permit, following successful negotiation of native title agreements with the traditional landowners and the grant of an environmental approval.

The permit covers 6,476 square kilometres in central Queensland and is about 500km northwest of Gladstone.

McCaul says the group aims to obtain coal thickness and gas content values over a wide area of the Comet Ridge portion of the eastern Galilee Basin.
