Orion Petroleum’s NSW coal seam gas core hole reaches new depths

ORION Petroleum says drilling at its Kurrabooma-1 coal seam gas (CSG) corehole in northern New South Wales has reached its total depth of 438.7m on 17 April 2009.

The company says that the total net coal intersected was about 4m with visible free gas reported during drilling. It says that wireline log data has been acquired and, over the coming months, total gas volumes within the coals will be determined.

Kurrabooma-1 is the first CSG well in the licence area. The company says it provides the first detailed assessment of the coal characteristics, which will be integrated with other available information to establish a forward plan for future activities.

Orion Petroleum believes oil and gas resource potential of the exploration licences is exceptionally large.
