RFID technology recognised for innovation

GLOBAL Tracking Solutions (GTS) has taken out the Australian Mining ‘Best Innovative Mining Solution’ award for its Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID).

The award, sponsored by BASF, recognises solutions that have resulted in mining improvements from innovative processes or techniques.

RFID technology provides companies with safe storage, security, tracking and regularity compliance when using explosives.

The technology can be integrated into current inventory systems to improve security and accountability of explosives as well as optimise post-blast analysis.

The 5th Annual Australian Mining Prospect Awards was held at Sydney’s Cockle Bay Wharf on 22 October 2008 to encourage, recognise and reward excellence in the mining industry.

Alcoa’s Bearing Lifting Jig was also highly commended for the award.
