BESTECH Australia has released the KP series of pore pressure gauges from TML, Japan. These devices are used to measure pore water pressure in ground, sheet piles, piles and boreholes.
The model KPA-PA is attached to a pile, diaphragm wall, etc and buried in the ground to measure the pore water pressure. The KPB-PA is buried directly into a borehole to measure pore water pressure in bedrock.
Similar but smaller versions of the previous two models are also available (KPC-PA and KPD-PA respectively).
The feature of these pore pressure gauges is the dual structure that makes them highly resistant to lateral pressure. Therefore high-accuracy measurement can be made even if soil pressure changes markedly.
The available capacities vary from 200kPa to 2MPa, with rated output at approximately 1mV/V. Non-linearity is approximately 1% of rated output, and the temperature range of these pore pressure gauges is 0°C to 60°C. Each model uses a 40µm filter mesh.
All these models of pore pressure gauge are protected to a rating of IP 68.
