Westek has released the Avtron dynamic braking resistors for corrosive atmospheres.
Suitable for onshore drilling rigs and braking duties for hoist motors and drill rig top drives, the braking resistors have absorbing capacities of up to 800 kilowatts.
The resistors typically have voltages ranging from 690 volts DC to in excess of 1090 volts. Cooling in vertical or horizontal mode is provided from integrally-mounted blower motors.
The Avtron dynamic resistors a constructed from corrosion resistant chromium alloy wire and comes in highly rugged enclosures built in stainless steel construction as an option to standard aluminium versions.
